Our charitable giving focuses on national charities with a shared ethos to directly assist those who need support most in our communities – children and older people. Our main charity partners for 2021 are ALONE who support older people to age at home and the Jack and Jill Foundation, who provide in-home nursing care for sick children and respite support for their families. We are also supporters of the Early Learning Initiative, a National College of Ireland educational programme designed to support local families in their educational journeys in inner city areas. Working with our partners at a local level allows Glenveagh the opportunity to positively impact people’s lives.
ALONE is a national organisation that enables older people to age at home, safely and securely. They work with all older people, including those who are lonely, isolated, frail or ill, homeless, living in poverty, or are facing other difficulties and provide an integrated system of Support Coordination, Practical Supports, Befriending, a variety of Phone Services, Social Prescribing, Housing with Support, and assistive technology. They use support plans, provide a point of contact for access to health, social care, housing, transport and other arising needs using technology and other services and activities to improve physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. Glenveagh look forward to working together with the ALONE team to share our industry experience and support a number of employee volunteers programmes throughout the year to help achieve their goals.
The Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation must raise over €4 million every year to fund its unique home nursing care and respite service, which is provided to children with highly complex medical and life-limiting conditions, from birth to six years of age, around the country, including end-of-life care. The service mobilises a crew of community nurses and carers, operates seven days a week, and has no waiting list. Over 2,500 families have been supported by the Foundation since it was established in 1997, with the Foundation funding and supporting over 94,000 home nursing hours to the children under its wing in 2020, in addition to hands-on case management from its specialist children’s liaison nurses. Glenveagh are proud supporters of the Jack & Jill Foundation and work closely with the Jack & Jill team on their many worthwhile initiatives including a recent staff volunteering day at their shops which raised valuable funds for this vital cause.
Glenveagh actively promotes the taking part in volunteering opportunities with our charity and educational partners by its employees. A day volunteering leave is available for all staff annually, adding real value that impacts our partners, the local community, and our employees in a positive way. Many of the volunteering projects support the local economy as well as the educational sector, enabling skills and competencies to be developed and enhanced within the community. In addition, our employees regularly support our charity partners in numerous ways including fundraising, card-sending to older people living alone, as well as partaking in volunteering opportunities in charity shops and at various charitable events throughout the year.

Our partnership is all about investing in local communities by supporting local Jack & Jill families when they need it most. The fundraising initiatives we’ve planned together will make a big difference for children with life limiting conditions in communities across the country.
